Organ of Corti [WAKE UP, ROD version]
so this has been heavily revised from the original, to become an entirely different poem, b/c without the form of the earlier version, much of the poem is rendered useless.
the following is a potentially helpful diagram. It illustrates what exactly I mean by tetrahedral spiral. The poem is ideally a spiral divided into threes, forming three-dimensionally a tetrahedron (one of the strongest structures) except inverted and spiralled. The idea for the spiral and the poem came from kate's use of cochlea. an organ in the ear, the organ of corti, is responsible for much of the sensation of sound, but three things I liked that it does: mechanical transformation (pressurizing and amplifying vibrations), shearing (the surface of the little hairs that translates vibrations into "sound"), and recruitment (which is the technical term for shit like tinnitus - an unbearable and unnecessary rise in loudness). For the fluid, the medium substance passing through this organ, I used gender, being processed and reprocessed.
there's also LOTS of fucking.
also, the sections bleed together. I can't do it in blogger, but they should.
The Organ of Corti (Tetrahedral Spiral)
i. double-headed castration (mechanical transformation)
the chick stolen from the over-easy
bathes in abominable yellow milk: the G-word
wrapped in terrifying fluids.
the alpha- remainder
rent from skin, skin from chicken
thighs, but leave the hairs on,
kosher-skinned genitalia. the restraints of flesh bristle
against flesh, scar deep ruts in the pubis, phantom
drumsticks pounding perineum.
the sensory world, vibrations felt in the gut,
in the lower-than-gut, in the catholic
ripping between the eye-balls of hip-sockets. snails
squeeze amorphous in the spiral shell,
but skin requires constraint. n+7
my pelvic ivory, see
what noun you find
for cage.
ii. transvex a dix [x=ck-s] (shear)
like sprite bottles
upended, touching rims, a modicum
of lip flesh puckered, tender pressed together, the hurricane kept
within body, while orifices stay covered, out of the rain.
wells that suck and spit,
but stay stable while I transvex
between planes.
the spiral curves in
and around the second chakra,
!the swadhisthana!
the male seahorse bears children,
the female mantis ingests the partner in growling
spastic orgy of devouring. demolition,
siren-like, calls to the fallopian in all of us. that
primacy of destruction, the consuming desire
to consume, the finger-length revolve, the bleeding orbit
of sensual bodies in gravity, wrapped around
a primal nucleus, the compulsion
to use me, wrap your
weapons around
my sex.
iii. I’ll have what we all had (recruitment)
a copy of a copy
only functional inasmuch as
I can feel your spine clicking against
my carapace. no primacy
in origination. fuck platonics, plutonics –
stability is a myth of magma and tectonics.
let it rot in the sea-salt. this
is as it should be –
declarative copies
only from the
waist down.
iv. aesthetic ignorance is so bliss (mechanical transformation)
the fluid timpani
swirls around miasmas of unknowing.
dragonflies fuck midair, tails latched
to heads. the copulation wheel. the cocks
keep seed
in torso.
the spiral shortens. gaea gives a chop chop. air-fucking
is no fun, but I would take to the
breeze, if it meant that
this skin-sack
would let
me go.
v. anything in white has the right to kill (shear)
from the altar
fill your shells with diamonds
spasm a long jet of shining crystal
with one long pump. if what they
require is spotless, white, virgin,
show the puncturing, penetrate
with egg, wrap a yolk’s slick
orange fingers, be that
sheer surface:
smooth,
frictio-
nless.
vi. the tensile strength of aquatic sex (recruitment)
obviously, fuck gender with a sword.
that sea will shear, separate, splitting
component bonds, atoms,
with the force of bodies
plowing water.
vii. open the god cupboard (mechanical transformation)
the multiplicity of the monotheistic ampersand.
the tripartite, drag-show god
in the Jesus get-up, in white,
a shotgun shell in ecstacy.
let him
melt
away in the sun.
viii. splice it between rocks (shear)
let genetics
burn off. wrap lips
around contemporaneous.
the spiral only goes on for as long
as your eyes follow it. the wounds heal
only if you lance them. the
vacuum only seals
if the brick stays
in your
hand.
