In honor of our 100th Post on Wake Up, Rod. I present:

The Menu for Tonight's Four-Course Assignment (with drink pairings):

APERITIFS 
An apéritif (also spelled aperitif) is usually served before a meal to stimulate the appetite. (wikipedia) 
In order to truly awaken the palette, I expect a brief (eight lines or less) imagisitic creation with a regional terroir. You choose the region (the word itself is intentionally open-ended). Remember that the ultimate goal is subtle flavors expressed masterfully. 

HORS D'ŒUVRE 
...food items served before the main course of a meal. (wikipedia) 
In the tradition of molecular gastronomy we will approach this appetizer with an eye for remaking, re-representing, and reforming. Cut a chunk out of a beloved piece and examine its structure (once again, intentionally open-ended) in order to invert it. Idea(s): take a subtle flavor and make it bold, recreate a familiar technique using a contrary method, etc.

MAIN COURSE 
The main course is usually the heaviest, heartiest, and most complex or substantive dish on a menu. The main ingredient is usually meat or fish; in vegetarian meals, the main course sometimes attempts to mimic a meat course. (wikipedia)
"A gourmet who thinks of calories is like a tart who looks at her watch," said James Beard. Let's aspire to gorge ourselves. For the main course, let's have fat maximalist chunks or huge maximalist spectacles. Think of it this way: can a course be to die for unless it could (potentially) kill you?

DESSERT 
In Western Culture dessert is a course that typically comes at the end of a meal, usually consisting of sweet food. The word comes from the French language as dessert and this from Old French desservir, "to clear the table" and "to serve." (wikipedia) 
It's the day after St. Valentine's name was dragged through the streets and dyed pink, but we here at Wake Up, Rod are not (completely) inured to the charms of Cupid. For dessert, let's have something sweet, in tercets — if you please.

Third Assignment: Pass that Stash, a treasure hunt

Even though a certain Rodder, *ahem,hoo-ah,ahem* didn't subject hisself to Kate's assignment, I'm posting another for general cogitation. I've got a hunger my friends, and that hunger happens to be for badass poetry. Here it is: Optional Step 1) Get schwasted. Approved varieties: whiskey, Pabst, Carlo, or a $10 bottle of champagne 2) Go on a magical internets treasure hunt. The stipulations are as follows: a) A pastiche poem of sorts is to be made, blasted, molded, squeezed out of the treasure hunt. b) The hunt must be multimedia (I'm thinking the triumvirate of music, film, text; but play with this how you want). c) A search engine must be used in order to generate islands along your personal treasure map (this is so we aren't purposely going to sexy sites we've scoped out before). d) We google (or whatever) 5 of the same words/phrases to generate different websites to put on the map.
